Up your game at the UK’s coolest gaming conventions

Board games, video games, card games, slots games – it doesn’t matter what type of games you like, there’s a gaming convention out there that’s perfect for you. Hundreds pop up around the UK every year, drawing in millions of gamers of all ages, interested in every genre imaginable.

Amongst some of the most popular conventions on this side of the Atlantic is the UK Games Expo at the NEC, Birmingham. It brings together fans of fantasy tabletop games like Blood Rage and Kingdomino from across the country, for three days of tournaments, talks and more. Visitors can even try their hand at cosplay and larping.

More of a video gamer than a tabletop player? Head to EGX. This huge exhibition is designed for every kind of Xbox, PlayStation and PC gamer. It’s renowned for showcasing new video games before general release and takes place in October at London’s ExCel.

Also taking place in the capital is the London Games Festival. One of the UK’s biggest conventions, it spans 12 whole days and celebrates every type of game you can think of, from retro arcade games to the latest console hits.
